Grant's News
It has been a pretty quiet week for Grant since Stacie left on Sunday
to return to New Mexico. On Wednesday Grant went for a really nice walk
in the marsh, which was perfect timing since everything has turned
green overnight it seems. He started working at the Wisconsin Rapids
Applebee's on Thursday with his old boss, Andrew. His first day went
pretty smoothly despite it getting slammed due to a local college's
graduation. The drive to the Rapids store takes about 40 minutes, but
Thursday night it took over an hour because of the dense fog that was
caused by heavy rains and high temperatures that afternoon. Grant
continues working on the garden, planting some annuals in flower pots
and adding more Black-Eyed Susans and Indian Paintbrush flowers to the
yard. And of course, he plants sage in the flower beds, because it
keeps both deer and unfriendly ghosts away. He is especially proud of
the tulips in the back flower bed by Mom and Dad's window. Some of the
tulips in the front yard were mysteriously snipped away last week and
so far the back flower bed has been safe. Although Dad says tulips are
like lollipops for deer and that is what probably took them, Grant
suspects envious neighbors who were too cheap to buy flowers for
Mother's Day, so they stole the ones from our yard.
The Wisconsin Haws Family
Here is Wisconsin the big news is Mom's fiftieth birthday! She is visiting Colorado. She loves being a Nana. It is very quiet here with Mom. I will be glad to have her home.
Logan has been in several track meet competitions. He throws diskus, shotput and runs a 400 meter relay. He really likes it. He also is on a soccer team but has less time for soccer than track.
Emily has had three different soccer games (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) as well as a tournament on Saturday. Needless to say, she has been enjoying her sports opportunities.
Lanette's IEP was this last week. We are very pleased with her new teachers. They seem very motivated. Lanette attended a bridal shower for Kira Czappa this weekend. She went with her friend Nona Crowe so of course she really enjoyed it.
Mom has a busy week before flying off on Saturday. I honestly do not know how she was able to do everything she did. We are really looking forward to her return but are happy at the same time that she could get in this vacation.
As for me, it has been a pretty quiet week. I did enjoy spending time with Logan today talking with him about the Aaronic Priesthood. My timing could not be better since today is the 182nd anniversary of the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood by John the Baptist to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery. He is nervous about passing the sacrament correctly but I bet he will do a terrific job.
