Grant's News
It has been a pretty quiet week for Grant since Stacie left on Sunday
to return to New Mexico. On Wednesday Grant went for a really nice walk
in the marsh, which was perfect timing since everything has turned
green overnight it seems. He started working at the Wisconsin Rapids
Applebee's on Thursday with his old boss, Andrew. His first day went
pretty smoothly despite it getting slammed due to a local college's
graduation. The drive to the Rapids store takes about 40 minutes, but
Thursday night it took over an hour because of the dense fog that was
caused by heavy rains and high temperatures that afternoon. Grant
continues working on the garden, planting some annuals in flower pots
and adding more Black-Eyed Susans and Indian Paintbrush flowers to the
yard. And of course, he plants sage in the flower beds, because it
keeps both deer and unfriendly ghosts away. He is especially proud of
the tulips in the back flower bed by Mom and Dad's window. Some of the
tulips in the front yard were mysteriously snipped away last week and
so far the back flower bed has been safe. Although Dad says tulips are
like lollipops for deer and that is what probably took them, Grant
suspects envious neighbors who were too cheap to buy flowers for
Mother's Day, so they stole the ones from our yard.

Here is Wisconsin the big news is Mom's fiftieth birthday! She is visiting Colorado. She loves being a Nana. It is very quiet here with Mom. I will be glad to have her home.
Logan has been in several track meet competitions. He throws diskus, shotput and runs a 400 meter relay. He really likes it. He also is on a soccer team but has less time for soccer than track.
Emily has had three different soccer games (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) as well as a tournament on Saturday. Needless to say, she has been enjoying her sports opportunities.
Lanette's IEP was this last week. We are very pleased with her new teachers. They seem very motivated. Lanette attended a bridal shower for Kira Czappa this weekend. She went with her friend Nona Crowe so of course she really enjoyed it.
Mom has a busy week before flying off on Saturday. I honestly do not know how she was able to do everything she did. We are really looking forward to her return but are happy at the same time that she could get in this vacation.
As for me, it has been a pretty quiet week. I did enjoy spending time with Logan today talking with him about the Aaronic Priesthood. My timing could not be better since today is the 182nd anniversary of the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood by John the Baptist to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery. He is nervous about passing the sacrament correctly but I bet he will do a terrific job.

May 8, 2011- Mother's Day
The Lane's of Virginia
This week has been busy with birthday plans ! Jeff turned 31 on Saturday and had a great birthday! We kicked off with a fun breakfast, ultimate frisbee, video games and typanyaki. Needless to say, we had a lot of fun!
The achievement day girls had their how to take care of babies and little kids class this week. After two moms told us about their experiances we melted crayons and made some pretty pictures for their moms! Some of the girls turn some of theirs into cards for them.
Besides those things we have only had doctors appts and work parties.

Stacie and Kevin have become increasingly busy as the semester draws closer to its end. However, Kevin is excited to have most of his work nearly completed for his current courses. Despite all their busyness they decided to wake up early to watch the Royal Wedding. However, what they really enjoyed was attending a royal wedding party hosted by a visiting professor and his wife from England. Stacie was happy to meet some of Kevin's running buddies, a group of older men and professors that run together by the Rio Grande each week. Stacie was also excited to commence her annual Harry Potter read.

We enjoyed the blessing of Stacie being home with us this week to celebrate Mother's Day. Thank you Kevin. It was absolutely delightful to have her here with us. The funniest event was hearing Grant and Stacie bring out a whole new part of Lanette's personality. Thank you again Stacie for coming.
Grant's News
Grant is on leave from work this week and was able to spend a lot of
time at home with Mom and Stacie. At the beginning of the week he
continued transferring the flowers that have been growing indoors out
to the front porch. And Tuesday night he made some lovely taco soup,
cornbread, and cherry blondie brownies. Wednesday Stacie arrived and
Thursday Mom, Stacie, and Grant ventured out to Marantha Market.
Afterwards Stacie and Grant brainstormed future posts for Stacie's Top
Model blog since Season 17 will be all returning models. On Friday
Mom, Stacie, and Grant went together to Wausau and visited the real
mall before picking up Lanette. Afterwards they went to Logan's track
meet. Grant decided Friday to step down to being a regular bartender
and will need to transfer stores to do so. He is going to transfer to
the Wisconsin Rapids Applebee's where his old boss works now. Saturday
Grant worked in the yard, planting some ornamental grasses that grow
feathered ends, and then two junipers. He and Stacie then made a
special dinner for Mom in honor of Mother's Day, which was chicken
cranberry salad sandwiches with blackberry poppy seed salad.

This week Andy was very glad to give hand off his government cell phone to someone else in the company so he can prepare for his deployment. Even though it hasn't quite hit us yet that he will be leaving again, I already know that Andy and all of us will be watched over, comforted and protected while he is gone. On Saturday we celebrated Haley's birthday a week early. She had fun with her friends from school making bracelets and eating cake and of course her favorite part was opening up presents. Sunday we went Stake Conference and heard the Denver Temple President speak on the importance of making the commitment of temple attendance and how the blessings will pour out from attending. We also got to hear from our Stake President who talked about making our homes a safe haven, and in doing so we need to make sure that we don't have any ways where the adversary would be able to step in. He also challenged all of us to go though our own homes and make sure that we are in compliance with the Lord...no bad movies, language, TV shows, music, immodest clothing, etc. I am so grateful for the council that we receive though the Lord's servants to help us draw closer to Him, and protection that we will receive by following His commandments.

Happy Birthday this week to Andy and Haley! Andy turned the big 30 and Haley turned the big 6 and let's just say that Andy was not as excited about his birthday as Haley was hers. Work has been busy for Andy this week working in the office when he should have been taking care of everything in preparation to his deployment. On Thursday Haley's class celebrated Cinco de Mayo by making maracas and sombreros and finally Kayla and Haley have been enjoying there last few weeks of school before it wraps up for the summer.

I do not have any direct email from Jeff to include but news that I can share includes that he has moved into his new apartment. Mom sent him all sorts of supplies for the house. That, of course, is typical of Mom. He rode his bike about 12miles each way to church today and enjoyed the ride. He is planning on leaving for Brazil in June to work on the family paperwork for getting his family to the states.

Mom and Dad,
Renata, the boys and I want to start by wishing Mom a very happy Mother's Day.
Our week has gone well. Renata and the boys sound happy and excited and well.
Renata has tried out a new hair style that I think Grant might like. Pictures are up at Flickr and available to be viewed.
My week has been busy but all is coming together and I am glad.
I am sorry not to have better information. I hope this finds you well.

Logan has been busy with track and soccer. I was able to attend his last track meet in Athens (Wisconsin not Greece). I was so impressed with how fast he ran. He did great. He has a good group of friends. He has not been able to spend as much time with soccer. His former principal died this week. That was a sad event. She was a very good person. Logan's chickens have become very productive and his chicks are growing up quickly.
Emily has been busy with soccer, work and school. Also this week she competed in the State Solo and Ensemble performance in Stevens Point. She earned a "1" for both performances. That is excellent.
Lanette had a great time being home with Stacie and Grant. She can be hiliarous. Lanette did get a new book this week and had a great time reading it. Grant teased Lanette endlessly. She is quickly coming to the end of her Janesville experience.
Mom has been busy with all sorts of things including attending soccer, track, Solo and Ensemble events while still enjoying time with her kids. Hopefully she had a good Mother's Day and felt appreciated for at least a bit of what she does. She has been enjoying general good health which is a wonderful blessing.
I have been doing well. I enjoyed watching the soccer and track performances. I enjoy watching Grant preparing our yard for all sorts of color. I have been trying to put up a fence/fortress around my fruit trees to ward off deer. I had the opportunity to speak at a pediatric conference on Friday. That was a fun challenge.
I have appreciated the opportunity of attending the temple recently. I am in awe of the powerful blessings the temple covenants bring to our family. I love you all dearly. Dad

Easter Day- April 24, 2011
I hope each of you were able to enjoy the blessing of reflecting on the Atonement and Resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I wonder often why I was blessed with the gift of faithful parents and the knowledge of the gospel taught to me since infancy. Thank you for being my wonderful family.

This week Haley received a Cougar Card from school for being patient. Her name will be displayed for everyone to see and will also be entered into a drawing for a prize. We are very proud of Haley and all of her accomplishments that she has made in school. Kayla was feeling a whole lot better this week and was able to enjoy going back to school. On Thursday the wind was blowing so hard that when we got back from picking up Haley from school the wind had blown our fence down. Finally, Andy was suppose to have a four-day this weekend for the holiday, but a soldier ended up needing his attention and therefore his four-day vacation into a day-and-a-half vacation.

It was a quiet but busy week this week for Stacie and Kevin. Kevin only has a few more weeks left in classes and the homework is really building up. He has been working on an important paper for the last few weeks and certainly looks forward to the end of the semester. Stacie has been busy at work attempting to cover the responsibilities of multiple positions. She looks forward to the day her replacement gets hired. They did enjoy taking a break on Wednesday when they decided to go out to dinner. A funny thing to note about Albuquerque is that even though it is a big city, most restaurants don't stay open very late. They had to drive for a while to finally find someplace to go to at 9:30 at night.
On Friday Kevin lead out on another great pack meeting. They loved watching the boys sing songs that they had prepared. On Saturday both Stacie and Kevin had to go into their workplaces for a while. However, in the evening they enjoyed spending time with friends at a housewarming party. They look forward to moving out of their apartment this upcoming summer.

This week Monday we had FHE and dyed eggs!
Tuesday we took the computer into Best Buy as it was acting up. The computer was having some problems/. They found some viruses. Instead of purchasing their $200 dollar- possible success program. We decided to reformat our computer.
Wednesday was achievement days for Julie. The girls learned about different kinds of literature. We also got things ready for reformatting the computer, like backing everything up!
Thursday we reformated the computer.
Friday we were expecting young marrieds, but we had the date wrong. Needless to say we were the only ones on time! After we discovered that it was the wrong night we had a nice relaxing evening at home.
Saturday we went to the temple, TGI Fridays and IKEA. Besides Julie's muscles locking up and causing her to biff it in a dress outside the busy IKEA, we discovered that the drink syrup we purchased for our engagement anniversary contains things that we cannot eat due to medical stuff. However, when Julie was going through the temple she had a really neat experience. We ended up doing two endowments and sealing seven siblings to their parents.
Easter morning was beautiful and warm. What a great, beautiful day to celebrate the resurrection and atonement of Christ.

Mom and Dad,
I thought that I would make a small contribution to the family newsletter by telling you about our week.
Renata has been busy this week. In part due to the general business of being a mother but augmented with the lack of school from Wednesday on due to Easter Sunday. So congratulations to her on surviving the week.
Felipe and Lucas have been helpful. Continuous reports arrive of their assistance around the house and promptness in helping before being asked. I am quite impressed and hope that the consistency will survive the move and continue when I am around.
Derick has been a bit sick. Mostly stomach pains with short fevers. It is dengue season in Brazil which has left all extra nervous, worried that dengue could be the culprit. He seems to be feeling better today after two visits to the doctor to for IV sessions.
I am fine. Busy. There is a lot to get in order still and it always feels as if it is taking too long to get Derick up. I like to think that most of this would be resolved if he could just be close to me and hope the time will quickly arrive that they can be.

It has been a delightful three days off work for me. I had the opportunity to get the chicken pen improved to a 7 foot fenced large play area for the birds. True to the old saying that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, the stupid chickens are still flying over the fence. I have solid evidence of that because I found an egg on the lawn. I am totally certain that Molly did not lay the egg. We went as a family to watch the movie "Hop". It is OK but I would recommend renting it when it comes out in DVD rather than going to the movie. I did get some good laughs out of the movie.
Logan has had a really nice week with school being out last Monday, Thursday and Friday. He will also be out on Monday. The Catholic school really believes in time off during Easter Week.
Emily did have Friday off from school but she will be back to school tomorrow. She continues to be busy with school, soccer and work. I think she has enjoyed the chance to get some extra rest now that the play is over.
Lanette visited with the Elmhorst family on Friday through Saturday. She enjoyed holding a baby and all the "stupid talk" at the Elmhorst. It is kind of funny because they gave a birthday card to Lanette. Inside the card was a $5 bill. There was also a note saying to Lanette "that she was a good girl and she should stay that way". When I handed the card to Mom she thought I said the birthday card was from the Elmhorst's to her. She appreciated the money but even more appreciated that encouragement to "stay a good girl". I don't know, that may be a big challenge for that wild mom of yours!
Mom and I enjoyed time together on Saturday evening. I am so happy that Mom has always encouraged us to have a weekly date. It has been a great blessing to our lives. It is a chance for us to sit and talk and just enjoy ourselves together. It is well worth the investment. The dividends are the amazing.

Jeff and family
Mom and Dad,
Renata sent me some pictures of Derick riding his bicycle and I have placed them up on Flickr.
Our week went well.
Felipe and Lucas both sound happy and excited about the opportunity to come. They continue in their lives of soccer and school and then more soccer. Tough, real tough.
Derick had a hard week as he received his DPT shot which has caused him quite a bit of soreness in his arm. He was able to recover to go to his friends birthday party on Saturday, amazing the power of the mind, where he had a lot of fun. Since returning he decided tomorrow is now going to be his birthday and has been asking Renata to prepare a party and call his friends. Good luck Renata. Wish I were there to help, maybe.
Renata has been busy with Derick not feeling well and all of the other responsibilities that befall her. Still she has been holding up well and enjoying herself.
I had a good week at work. On Friday Matthew and I had a very informative lesson with a man who has worked with computers and database for probably 30 years. I think that I learned more about the ins-and-outs of computers in those few hours than through any book that I have ever read on the subject. It was amazing. He also looked over a very large database that I am building and gave me suggestions.
Besides that I continue to try to pass as through parks on my way to and from work. The cherry trees are blooming and the world is coming alive again. I have enjoyed very much my time riding a bicycle to work and don't plan on driving to work after I buy a car.
I hope that your week has brought so much pleasure and joy.
Love,
Jeff
Grant's News
It has been a very long week for Grant. He worked every single day and a local drama group decided to come in three nights in a row at fifteen minutes before close. The first two nights it was twelve people, the last 30+. So Grant's hasn't been getting home until 2 am or so every night. Luckily, some finalized plans came about this week at work where Grant will take a pay cut but now won't be required to work more than 40 hours or so in the week. It won't be until mid-May until happens, but he is excited for it all the same. He gets a day off finally on Monday and he is very excited for it.
The Lane's of Virginia
Happy Birthday to the old lady, Lenny!
We began to work on Jeff's rocking chair this week! Starting off with disassembling it into little pieces and adding wood glue for loose pieces. Julie also had another doctor's appointment. We are both really excited because the doctor has band us for 6months! We are really excited for the budget on that one! All the doctor's appointments are very expensive.
Tuesday, Julie taught a gardening lesson for all experience-levels at enrichment.
Every other moment this week up till Friday night was filled with napkin flowers and decorations for the Ward party. People thought it was awesome and, especially for being at 20.00 dollars in cost, very cool.
Saturday was a cool down day from church activities since Jeff and I were feeling very tired from the rigorous demands they made. We were so glad to have a day away from the world! While there is flooding here we have not had any in our apartment. Yesterday produced more rain than we expected. It was hailing here too! All is safe for now. Thank you for those that had concern for us. Julie
The Wisconsin Haws Family
We adopted 12 new chicks and one parakeet into our family circle. Logan's chickens are laying about 5-10 eggs per day. Logan sells the eggs at about $1.50 per dozen so he is really beginning to earn some meaningful amount of money. He is splitting it between tithing, mission savings and personal spending. He is actually doing pretty good with the savings component.
Emily and Logan are full swing into spring sports. Sometimes it is a bit frustrating to try to make sure we have dinner together. Emily had a number of games this last week. Her team is doing much better this year. She was able to attend junior prom this year with a group of friends. Pictures will be included.
Lanette enjoyed her birthday party at our home. It was simple. This coming week she will also have a birthday celebration with the Elmhorst family. They have been so kind to Lanette. It is really amazing how kind they are. I see a childlike kindness that Brother and Sister Elmhorst personify.
Mom has been busy putting things together to help Jeff as he moves into his apartment. She has been searching for all sorts of things to help. Mom is the greatest at nurturing and showing love. She will be going to Woman's Conference in a couple of weeks. It will be a hard thing since those of us here in Marshfield really depend on her for so much.
I have been busy with scouts this last week. We finalized the registration for scout camp and have two Eagle court of honor presentations. It was really great.

For Kevin this week was filled with late nights working on homework and preparing for big papers. With only a few weeks till finals, the pressure has really been building in his courses. However, they did find some time on Monday to enjoy a FHE lesson together. On Tuesday Stacie enjoyed mutual with the beehives where they played games and shared their favorite treats. (As an important reference, Stacie's favorite treat were York pieces.) On Wednesday Stacie stayed late at work to resolve some issues with an employee. She was very happy to leave work with an improved relationship. After work on Friday Stacie and Kevin headed over to a goodbye party for their friend, Cesar, who will no longer be working with Kevin at the YMCA. The goodbye party was held at a bar, but (much to their relief) Stacie's ID wouldn't pass the screen test and they weren't permitted in. Instead they enjoyed a date night out to Goodwill where they giggled at some crazy finds and even picked up a few nice items. On Saturday they caught up on their errands and enjoyed a delicious green chili & sausage pizza from a pizza place called "Pizza Castle" which, unfortunately, is not built to look like a castle. They look forward to relaxing this evening before another busy week of homework and work.
The Haws family of Colorado
This week was an adventurous week. First of all to start out our week the girls and I were going for a walk and a bird started squawking at us, as I looked down I noticed that it had been hurt. I called a vet and described what the bird looked like and asked if someone was able to come and pick it up. They told me that they didn't have anyone and asked if I could bring it in so I made the neighbor girl put the towel over the bird and put it in the laundry basket. When we were driving, the bird was not very happy and kept squawking (probably because Haley kept squawking at it) and poking its beak though the towel which made me very, very nervous. Once we arrived at the vet they saw the bird and then told me that I was brave for bring that bird in because it was a Western Grebe and if they knew it was a Grebe they would have had someone come and pick it up...I felt like saying "Are you kidding me?!" On top of all the bird excitement I had to take Kayla to the ER because she was having a fever for a few days and ended up with a bad ear infection. On Saturday I took the girls to the Easter Egg hunt on post. The girls thought it was fun until Kayla tipped her bucket of eggs and everyone kept taking them from her, but luckily there were some nice kids that shared their eggs with Kayla.

Julie

We adopted 12 new chicks and one parakeet into our family circle. Logan's chickens are laying about 5-10 eggs per day. Julie and Jeff's update for our family news
So we typed up the blog, but forgot to send it. sorry.
Monday, for FHE, we went for a walk in the park. We had a really beautiful day that day, so it was really pleasurable. On our way home we took a bundle of branches that someone had left for the trashman for the ward party. Yeah for those that prune in spring.
Tuesday, Julie prepped the cloud work for the achievement day girls. That night, we hosted the missionaries for dinner.
Wednesday Julie worked on some of the table arrangements for the ward party and had achievement days. The girls at achievement days loved the fact that the get to decorate for the ward party. Julie loved some of the things the girls though of and is planning on attempting to make their dreams come true with a tulle-d waterfall, if she can find the tulle at the church.
Thursday we went on a date, to Chipotle and it was yum.
Friday was a chill day, as winter fought to remain. Saturday, we went swimming at a local pool. It was nice to get outside of the house. We have been extremely stressed and it was wonderful to just relax.
Sunday, Julie and Jeff both taught lessons. The kids in Julie’s class really loved the lesson on the word of wisdom, especially when Julie brought forth the laminated paper food that she had used a few weeks ago for achievement days. After church we went to an older couple’s home to aid them in updating their windows program. This old couple is soo cute. They love to sass one another and everyone else. Just fun people. They love to travel around the world like us and so it was fun to talk to them. The guy has taught English, Spanish, French, Russian and something else that is not coming to me. His book shelves are also filled with Kurdish, Japanese and many other books. Later we found some research and learned that scientists are actually able to print (yes like a computer printer) a new heart that could actually beat.
If you will keep us in your prayers we would appreciate it very much. We are having some medical problems and while we don’t expect anything to happen, there is a chance that Jeff may lose his job as the government is striving to fix the budget. Like I said, it is unlikely, but not impossible, especially he is working for one of the few programs that runs on zero tax dollars and actually makes money for the government. None the less we could use your prayers for the medical stuff if nothing else. If only we could print our medical problems away! Hahaha

The Haws Family of Colorado
This week went by pretty quickly for all of us. On Tuesday the girls went to the dentist to get their cavities filled and did very well. They thought each other looked pretty silly when the dentist put on the rubber dam so that the tooth debris would not get in their mouth. On Wednesday I also went to the dentist to get my crown put on, which I will be very, very glad if I don't ever have to get another crown or root canal done; however I am grateful for the technology that we have to detect things like this. On Friday I took Kayla and her friend Emma to story hour at the library. They had fun playing at the playground before it started even though it was very windy. Andy and I decided that there is a wind competition between Colorado Spring and Fort Irwin, right now we fill that Colorado Springs is winning because it was windy 5 out of the 7 days this week with at least 40 + MPH wind.
Grant's News
This week Grant had another meeting in Neenah to be trained on the new recipes at work. The only other wok news for Grant is that he is figuring out with his boss a way that he won't be work so many hours. For the last nine months, Grant has been working 50-70 hours a week. Hopefully he can get it back down to the 40 hours a week range. In gardening news, some of the flowers started inside were transplanted to the flower beds this week. Grant also planted two new rose bushes, gladiolas, day lilies, dahlias, and freesias in the yard.

Stacie and Kevin have enjoyed some improved weather in Albuquerque. Their week was fairly uneventful. On Thursday Stacie's new boss announced to the department that she would be in her new position. This was a relief to Stacie since she has had to keep her promotion a secret for the last few weeks. On Saturday Stacie woke up early to attend a Girl's Camp Kick-Off. Afterwards, she came home to help Kevin clean the apartment for the arrival of their friends, Stephen and Tim Potter. Shortly after she returned, Kevin received a call from work and had to go in to help. This was frustrating to him because they required that he come assist in planting a garden, but they refused to pay him for his assistance. As much as Kevin would like to leave the position, it has been difficult to find other jobs. Anyway, Stacie finished some laundry and picked up the groceries just before their friends arrived. They were happy to spend the rest of the evening relaxing with friends. Steve and Tim lived with Kevin in Provo and Steve assisted Kevin & Stacie by photographing their wedding. They went out to eat at a great New Mexican restaurant called Eloy's. Afterwards they stayed up watching Seinfeld and playing Loaded Questions.
The Haws Family of Wisconsin
Spring is definately coming our way. Both Jeff and Stacie called concerned about severe weather warnings for Sunday but as a whole we have enjoyed some pretty awesome weather.
Logan is now totally envolved with soccer and track but he did make time today to perform in his school concert. He is a wonderful singer and we could hear his voice clearly among on the choir members. He has ordered more chicks to compliment the hens he has already. His business is picking up and he has a spread sheet to document his efforts.
Emily had her first soccer game of the year on Friday. They lost 3-1 against a very good opponent. She feels good about the teams efforts. The school play, Camelot was this weekend. Emily helped with much of the set. It looked great.
Lanette and I were able to attend the temple on Saturday. Lanette did baptisms while I did sealings. Lanette is looking forward to her 19th birthday this week. It is difficult to believe that she is 19.
Mom is coordinating everyone schedules. That is a bit more difficult with spring sports now in full swing. She has also made some plans for us to celebrate some dear friends' anniversary together this week. She will be going to Women's conference in Provo later this month. She loves the winter snows but I think spring is looking pretty appealing to mom.

Stacie & Kevin
This week flew by for Stacie and Kevin. Kevin continues to work hard in school and Stacie has been busy conducting interviews for student employees at work. However, they had lots of opportunities to relax and enjoy the conference weekend. On Friday Kevin enjoyed playing golf with his buddies Nick and Jeramie. Afterwards he picked up Stacie and they went out to eat with her friends Nikki and Paul. While running this weekend with his group of friends, Kevin had a bit of a scare. He enjoys running with some retired UNM professors and afterwards one of the professors passed out of dehydration. Because of the professor's age and condition, they were very worried and attempted to get him into the car to take to the hospital when he finally came around. On a happy note, while Kevin was attending priesthood session Stacie baked delicious bar cookies inspired by girls scout cookies. If you are interested in trying out the recipe, check out this link: http://bakingbites.com/2008/01/homemade-girl-scout-cookies-samoas/.
Julie & Jeff
This week was relatively quiet in Virginia. Monday, we started our 72 hour kits. We went out with some friends on Friday, the Deetz,to Cici's Pizza Buffet. Apparently, it was the hot night to go because they had an exceptionally large crowd. Jeff also closed his work building on Friday. Saturday was conference, and Sunday was as well. Saturday, some people in the ward called us right before the next meeting was going to start to go clean the church. We did what we could, but the people were being ridiculous about not team working, so we cleaned the chapel and then left them to finish in their own way. Julie made more burp cloths for Elise Chriss Cluff and the Russian woman. Elise got so excited that she wanted them all. Julie got assigned to decorate for a ward dinner with a budget of $20. We are trying to figure out how to accomplish this without stressing out.
Andy & Melanie
This week we received the news that Andy will be deploying to Afghanistan in June. We know that he just got back, but because his last deployment was only 7 months, they could only give him at least 7 months home before they deployed him again. Please continue to keep his name in the Temple and pray for his protection while he is gone. On a happier note, Haley had the Renaissance Assembly at school where she received a gold card, which means she had perfect attendance and has showed improvement/advanced on her school work. On Wednesday Kayla loved going to her friend Emma’s while I really did not enjoy going to the dentist to get a crown on my tooth. I guess that is what I get for not going to the dentist for a couple of years. On Saturday and Sunday we truly enjoyed listening to the Prophet and other members of the church speak to us at General Conference. We are so grateful that we have the technology to listen to and watch the Prophet and for those who live all over the world to hear the wonderful messages that they give about the Savior.
Mom & Dad & Lanette & Emily & Logan
Logan was ill several days this week. Luckily he is back to good health and was able to enjoy soccer practice on Saturday.
Emily has been working hard on the stage crew team. The high school play this year is Camelot. Emily really enjoys stage crew including one young man that is on the stage crew team.
Lanette is anxiously awaiting her birthday. She is also is anxiously waiting to go an visit a new mom with twins. She is planning on going with the Elmhorst family to visit this mom. So if you call her she will be sure and tell you all about it.
Mom has been spending a lot of time running around helping all of us here. She is the offical taxi driver but with gas prices climbing we are trying to limit the number of trips. We too had a wonderful time enjoying conference. Between a number of hospital consults and a scoutmaster workshop I did not expect to attend any of Saturday's general sessions. As I prayed on Saturday morning my plea was to be able to learn as much from conference as possible. It was amazing, I was able to enjoy all five sessions.
I am not sure that Grant will have a chance to update his news. He has been able to catch up on some sleep and looks so much more rested. He is very anxious for the snow to leave so he can get going with gardening.
News from Jeff has included the wonderful news that some progress is going forward on getting Renata and the boys to the States. He had a bit of a upset stomach from his own cooking. He loves his job with Uncle Steven.
