February 27, 2012

There are lots of fun pictures in the updated flickr slideshow.  I should have put Henry front and center in the slide show but that is beyond my technological ability. He is at the end instead.  Please enjoy all the pictures from this week.

Welcome Henry to a wonderful family!!!!

The Haws Family of Colorado
(Last week's contribution)

On Tuesday I helped with both Haley’s and Kayla’s Valentine party at school. Then on Wednesday we were all excited to pick Grandma Nancy up from the airport. On Thursday while I went to help in Haley’s classroom my mom and Vanesa adventured (actually got lost) downtown Colorado Springs…they probably should have had pepper spray with them where they went. While they were off “exploring” I was preparing activities for Kayla’s birthday. Friday Kayla decided to wake up in the middle of the night to let us know that it was her birthday and she is 5 years old. I told her that was wonderful and she needed to go back to bed. Friday we celebrated Kayla’s birthday by having a party with some of her friends. They made butterfly wands, played pin crown on the princess and ate cake. Everyone seemed to have a good time. On Saturday Vanesa and I were planning to go to the temple but our plans changed because Kayla was up all night and then ended up with a fever and throwing up on Saturday. On Sunday my mom and Vanesa took Haley to church while I took Kayla to the urgent care because her fever did not go away and she also developed a rash all over her body; we found out she had strep throat. Hopefully no one else in the household gets it. Andy seems to be doing well. Of course he is continually staying busy checking up on different fobs throughout Afghanistan.

The Wisconsin Haws Family

The week has been focused on the new arrival of Henry. He has been in our prayers as he started this earthly journal with a bit of a challenge. He is doing well and the news from New Mexico is all favorable. He has some pretty awesome parents and one terrific Nana.

Logan and I had some quality time this last week. On Saturday he participated in a piano concert and earned a "superior" mark. Later that morning we went to the community cultural fair. Marshfield is an amazingly diverse population despite being a small Midwestern town. The cultural fair had all sorts of booths representing many countries. That evening we went to a fireside on missionary service. Later we pick up Emily and enjoyed the movie, Journey 2 to the Lost Island. It was fun.

Emily has been busy with soccer, school, work and boyfriend. She is waiting still to hear back from James Madison but she has received acceptance letters from UW Green Bay, University of Minnesota and Utah State University. She is trying to figure out finances and long term aspirations.

Lanette enjoyed a long weekend with the Weier family. She really knows how to keep up an intinary of visiting friends. Bottom line is that she hates staying home and being "bored". She will have a job interview tomorrow for an opportunity to work at the hospital. She is working part time at Goodwill.

Mom has been doing the most important thing in the world by there for her daughter and son-in-law. Mom is very proud of her children and it has been a good experience despite Henry's rough start.

I have enjoyed time with my family and with other activities. Work has been challenging and in my spare time I have been working on seeking out Pierre Mann, your illusive ancestor.

It is such a joy to see how my children are growing up to be great moms and dads. Thank you for your efforts. And thank you Grant for all you do to make our home a stable, well fed and a pretty clean place.

Love,

Dad

  1. Just so you know, the picture in the flicker account that says "Henry drinking from bottle" is actually Alex. Well, at least I know it isn't Henry.
